Functions

The Southampton Education Trust will:

1. Promote the achievements of all educational providers in Southampton, schools, colleges, universities and work-based learning;
2. Support the active involvement of business and community interests in schools, including through the recruitment, appointment, development and support of appointed Governors;
3. Broker specific partnerships between schools and business, including in relation to specialist status and similar initiatives;
4. Support work-experience opportunities of pupils and students, and skills transfer between schools, businesses and other partners;
5. Develop progression routes from schools to the colleges, universities and employment;
6. Promote a network of learning campuses across the City;
7. Provide or broker research to provide a strong evidence-base for innovation and good practice, and for evaluating educational practice;
8. Provide or broker support services if commissioned to do so by schools, colleges or the City Council.
